Byers Peak is one of the more popular hikes in the Winter Park area. Byers Peak stands tall as an easily identifiable landmark for the county. With several trailheads, all reaching the peak, varying in length and difficulty, this area is great for those of all abilities. Upon summiting, you will have a 360 degree view of Rocky Mountain National Park, the Continental Divide, and the Gore Range, this trail is a must-do if you're searching for that perfect photo op with amazing views.
If you're looking for a high alpine lake to visit look no further. The St. Louis Lake trail is a fantastic Winter Park hike for scenery. This seven mile round trip takes you through the deep forest and leads to a string of open meadows, where wildflowers are abundant. Though considered a strenuous hike, you will ultimately end at the lake where the view of crystal blue waters makes your trek well worth the effort.
The Devil’s Thumb Pass is a classic Colorado hike. This is a challenging, yet rewarding Winter Park hiking experience. This 8 mile roundtrip hike winds through the forest and lands you in an open meadow, where you will then cross the alpine tundra and get your first glimpse of the Devil’s Thumb and the Continental Divide. Whether you are looking for just a day hike, or to get some rock climbing time in, this hike is an excellent option.
Winter Park, though typically known for skiing, has tons of great hiking trails. If you are looking for an easy mellow hike with the family, or a strenuous adventure Winter Park has plenty of trails to choose from during your Colorado vacation.
