Vail Activities

Vail Colorado ActivitiesFor over 40 years, the name "Vail" has been associated with the ultimate American Alpine experience for travelers worldwide.  Located high up in the Gore Valley and surrounded by the White River National Forest, Vail is perfectly situated for visitors to enjoy all of the many activities that the Rocky Mountains has to offer.

The town itself has the feel of a European Alpine village, and it is a pleasure to explore the many wonderful shops and local attractions that abound.  There are excellent restaurants offering a variety of cuisines in all price ranges; there is even a "dinner theater" where you can enjoy a first run movie while dining in style. Vail also has an active night live with several bars, clubs and pubs from which to choose.  The numerous hotels and condos nearby make exploring fun and convenient.

For winter vacationers, Vail Mountain is the number one ski destination in the US. It has a 5,289 acres of skiable terrain serviced by 33 ski lifts. There are 193 marked skiing trails on three faces: the front side, the back bowls, and Blue Sky Basin. In addition to skiing, visitors can enjoy numerous other activities, such as snowshoeing and snowmobile tours. Take an elegant horse drawn sleigh ride through beautiful snowy scenery (some include dinner). Or book a dog sledding trip with Siberian Huskies through private trails free of snowmobiles.

Summer visitors will be treated to mild daytime temperatures and beautifully cool evenings. Humidity is non-existent. The number of activities from which to choose can be overwhelming. Rafting is especially popular: enjoy a scenic float through a beautiful canyon, or the more adventurous can opt for a world class white water challenge. Kayaking is another way to experience the rivers.

There are exciting zip lining tours to consider, and fly fishing and several golf courses await. Private or self-guided hiking trips, mountain biking, and ATV rides on back country trails are other ways to fill your days.  And don't forget to check out Adventure Ridge for more summer play; there are horseback and pony rides, rock climbing, a rebound trampoline, and the Discovery Center, to name a few.

Whether you travel to Vail to visit winter or summer, you will be treated to one of the most spectacular valleys in Colorado and will take away memories of a lifetime!
