Steamboat Springs Horseback Riding

Even if you only stay in Steamboat for a short period of time, you can easily squeeze a short one or two hour trail ride into your schedule.  Want to take your time?  Consider a full day excursion and truly escape into the wilderness!  Unlike many other places in Colorado, some of Steamboat's stables offer winter trail rides in addition to options during the summer months.  Take a break from skiing and snowboarding to rest your legs and see another side of this destination town.

Another winter option is a sleigh ride.  Whether you explore snow-covered slopes or stay right in town, you'll be able to curl up in a warm blanket and take in the surrounding, snow-covered scenery.  It's perfect for a romantic date or a fun outing with the whole family.

Visiting in the summer and want something more?  Local dude ranches will give you the full cowboy experience, complete with trail rides, cattle round-ups, and more.  Spend a day or a week living the true western lifestyle.  Take a trip to Steamboat's rodeo to further enhance the Old West experience.

If the backcountry seems to be calling, there's also the option of a pack trip, where your horse will help carry your gear and you can cover more ground as you make your way through Steamboat's wilderness.  It's a great alternative to traditional hiking.
