Ski Resorts’ Opening Dates

With the recent snowfall and cold weather making itself home in the mountains for another winter season, many ski resorts have already opened or are in heavy preparation to open soon. Private ski resorts such as Loveland Ski Area and Arapahoe Basin have been open for more than a week now creating a large influx of skiers and riders to the area. Early November will bring even more visitors to the area with the opening of some of Colorado’s most popular ski resorts. Here is a short list of some notable resorts and their upcoming opening days for the 2013/14 ski season:

There has already been a decent amount of preseason snowfall in Colorado which is always a good sign for ski resorts and their respective towns. There is always a buzz in the air that accompanies the months leading up to a new ski season, and this year is no exception.

There are also certain resorts, as there are every year, that will be upgrading their lodges, putting in new chairlifts, or opening more terrain for their guests that seem to create even more excitement for visitors and locals alike. Arapahoe Basin invested 1 million dollars to improve its 6th Alley Bar & Grill and to make some improvement to their base lodge. Beaver Creek, Loveland, and Steamboat have all built new restaurants and mid-mountain lodges to improve its ski-in ski-out dining experiences. But probably the most talked about ski resort improvement will be taking place in Breckenridge with their Peak 6 expansion. They will be adding two new chairlifts that will access over 440 acres of new skiable terrain for guests.

No matter which mountain resort you choose to ski this year, make sure to be safe on the slopes and take advantage of all these new upgrades. It’s shaping up to be another great season, so don’t miss out.
