September Events

Colorado is a state that is known for two seasons; winter and summer. Fall and spring don’t receive their due diligence because of the uniqueness of the high elevation climate.  With that said, there are still tons of activities to participate in even though we are outside of Colorado’s two peak seasons. Take a look at all the fun being had this September:

Oktoberfests – Colorado is littered with small ski and mining towns that all host their own version of this famous German beer festival. Grab your lederhosen and dirndls and prost your neighbors’ health over a tall stein of German beer. Here are a couple that are a must visit:

        Breckenridge: September 13th-15th
        Vail: September 6th-8th and 13th-15th
        Denver: September 27 - October 6, 2013

Fall Foliage – Not so much an event as it is a must see. Coming to the mountains to view the changing Aspen leaves is something that you will not soon forget. Pair that with an early winter snowstorm and your pictures will look as good as a professionals. For only three weeks out of the year can you experience a collaboration of yellows, oranges, and reds in front of a vast snowcapped mountain. Head to the Rockies between mid-September and mid-October, but be careful to catch it before it’s gone. One rainstorm can wipe all the leaves away.

Rafting & Ziplining – There are still rivers in Colorado that are commercially rafting. Check out Shoshone Rapids in Glenwood Springs or the Arkansas River in Canyon City. Also, ziplining in Idaho Springs will be taking guests on AVA’s world class zipline course until late November. Right now, there is a BOGO 50% OFF on ziplining so act now!

Keystone River Run Rail Series – Keystone is gearing up for winter ahead of schedule this year. With 25 tons of snow being brought to the West Gondola Parking Lot on River Run Road September 7th, you may be confused that it is only September. Skiers and snowboarders of pro and amateur status will compete in a rail jam type format on features set up by Keystones park crew. Don’t miss this awesome event that will offer free giveaways and prizes for the winners.
