skiCOPPER MOUNTAIN

General Information: Copper Mountain: 970-968-2882.

Copper Mountain is one of four ski resorts in Summit County 75 miles west of Denver on Interstate 70. The others nearby are Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin. All are popular with Denver skiers because of their good accessibility and fine ski conditions.

Copper Mountain has North America's only Club Med ski village, which offers reasonable rates and contains a restaurant, hot tub, sauna and piano bar. Copper is especially popular with families because of its smaller size, affordability, children's ski school and convenient child-care services.

Snowboarding and Nordic skiing are available. Copper has 115 trails and over 2,400 skiable acres (41% advanced, 35% intermediate, 23% beginner). Its highest lift goes to over 12,300 feet and its longest run is nearly three miles.

Lodging is mostly condominiums with some hotel rooms and four-bedroom townhomes. Dining and nightlife are mostly within the self-contained resort building, with occasional live music. Copper is not a town like Aspen or a large resort like Keystone. It is a smaller, reasonably priced resort.
