The Town of Breckenridge|
The lure of gold, silver, and quick riches brought the first settlers to this high mountain valley. The town was founded in 1859, along the banks of the Blue River and is the oldest continually inhabited community in the Colorado mountains.
Today Breckenridge is more than a quaint historic mining town. It's a year-round destination resort with enough summer and winter activities to please everyone.
"Genuine Colorado", "A real town", and "Exceptional skiing" are how visitors often describe Breckenridge.
The new gold rush started in 1961, with the development of alpine skiing...the Breckenridge Ski Area is now known around the world as a world-class ski resort.
An abundance and variety of vacation adventures, a real town and exceptional skiing, all combine to make Breckenridge a Colorado classic.
Breckenridge is located approximately 86 miles west of Denver via I-70.
