Plan the Perfect Valentine's Day
When February rolls around, there’s no more romantic place to be than
Colorado's Rocky Mountains. From picturesque views to freshly fallen snow and cozy candlelit dinners, a trip to the mountains can be both intimate and memorable. If you’re planning a Valentine’s Day getaway, here are six tips to make it perfect.
Plan ahead
While your vacation is sure to be one of a kind, you’re probably not the only one hoping to reserve that table for two or couples' massage. Be sure to make reservations well in advance so you don’t have to scramble at the last minute.
Visit a mountaintop
Whether you take the cog railway up Pikes Peak,
snowshoe to a backcountry pass, or ride the lift to a cozy ski lodge, a mountain excursion will treat you and your special someone to great memories and great photo ops. Snuggle up together to get warm once you’re back indoors.

Renew your vows
Every year, Loveland Ski Area conducts a public wedding ceremony on Valentine’s Day. Tie the knot or renew existing vows…then spend the rest of the day enjoying this winter’s killer snowpack with some (free!)
skiing and snowboarding.
Go for a sleigh ride
It doesn’t get much more romantic than cuddling under a heavy blanket as you’re carried over the snow in a horse-drawn sleigh. Choose from packages across Colorado that offer a warm-up with hot chocolate, a full dinner spread or a bonfire to relax.
Find a fireplace
When it’s snowing outside, sometimes you just want to curl up by the fire inside. Head to your local
B&B or ski lodge and enjoy a hot beverage fireside. If you’re trying to plan a romantic meal, as well, consider making reservations at an establishment that offers fireside dining.
Head for the hot springs
No matter the season, Colorado is a consistent destination for its hot springs. From
Durango to
Steamboat to
Buena Vista, you’ll find hot springs of all sizes and with a wide array of amenities. Look for hot springs that offer private pools for Valentine’s Day.
